I grew up in rural Minnesota with a passion for reading and creative writing,

In the mid-1980s, a job at a small-town weekly newspaper set the stage for my 25-year career as an award-winning reporter and editor. Just before the turn of the century, I moved to Michigan, won a few journalism awards, spent a few years in public relations, got mixed up in online news, and – during National Novel Writing Month, no less – revised a 20-year-old, abandoned manuscript that became Above the Fold

Now I can’t. stop. writing.

In my spare time, I work on farmingtonvoice.com, a community news website, and I sling cheese at a mom-and-pop shop in downtown Farmington, where I’m researching my new Cheese Shop mystery series.
